  1. Upload mapster-wp-maps.php to the /wp-content/plugins/ directory
  2. Activate the plugin through the ‘Plugins’ menu in WordPress
  3. Click on “Maps” to start building your maps.
  4. Add an Access Token if you would like to use custom Mapbox styles or geocoders
  5. Use the provided shortcodes to output these maps in your posts or widgets.

I am using the Mapster plugin since some years now. At first I had to learn to use it. Step by step. But after a while I could make several maps on different levels of complexity. It gives me the tools to create online surroundings that serve different civil initiatives where people from different backgrounds and -organisations work together. There is for example the storymap that gives practical information (where to eat or sleep, when dous the bus arives) and stories (in word, image and audio) that tell the visitors about the history and nature along a hiking path and help them find the way. Another map maps the possible interventions that can be done to make in a landscape better conditions for the wild bee. The interventions are pronounced (with pictures and short explanation, at a certain spot in the landscape) by a small group of experts from different organisations and can be seen on the map by all that organisations but also by a growing group of volunteers who help to realise and maintain the interventions. It works perfectly to communicate broad and across many different stakeholders, where other systems only serve one organisation. Thanks to the good helpdesk it is possible to make all the elements exactly as I imagine, so it works best to make a powerful online map!
